About EBWA
Founded by our late Choudhury Mohammed Anwar MBE, former Mayor of Enfield, EBWA provides education, welfare and social support to the whole community.
Our mission is to support the elderly, women and young people from the Bangladeshi and wider Enfield community by providing educational, social, physical and mental wellbeing services that reduce health inequalities, support vulnerable communities and improve quality of life for all.
We focus on:
Celebrating Bangladeshi heritage and strengthening cultural identity through community-led activities, intergenerational learning and shared traditions therefore reducing social isolation and strengthening community connections.
Empowering women and young people through skills, confidence‐building and employability support.
Creating safe spaces for youth with positive activities and guidance and helping children and young people do well in school to achieve their potential by offering tutoring, homework support, mentoring and confidence‐ building learning environments.
Finding practical pathways to address social and environmental issues, especially for communities most affected by disadvantage, discrimination and the cost‐of‐living crisis
Bringing communities together to share challenges, exchange knowledge and build mutual support
Reducing health inequalities by improving access to wellbeing activities, information and early support from health professionals
Our aim is to create an inclusive, connected and resilient community where people feel supported, valued and able to thrive.
